Biography

‍

Leonid Furmansky is a Ukrainian American architectural photographer based in Austin, Texas. His work examines the built environment and the ways architecture, history, and landscape shape the identity of a place. Moving between commissioned photography and long-term personal projects, he documents buildings as both individual subjects and parts of a larger social and urban context.

Furmansky was named one of ArchDaily’s 25 Emerging Architectural Photographers representing the United States and was featured in AN Interior’s “The Future of Vision.” He studied photography in the Photography and Visual Media Program at Austin Community College.

Outside of commissioned work, Furmansky photographs rapidly changing cities, rural landscapes, and overlooked architectural histories. His background in BMX continues to influence how he moves through and observes the built environment.
