The ALPA 12 SWA (Shift Wide Angle) was the first model of the ALPA 12 medium format system. Introduced in 1998 as the ALPA 12 WA (Wide Angle), it set the foundation for everything that followed. A camera so well conceived that it has needed hardly any change since. Initially built for rollfilm backs, later adapted for digital capture, the SWA embodies ALPA’s philosophy of lasting relevance: no artificial obsolescence, no change for the sake of novelty.

With its integrated 25 mm vertical shift, the ALPA 12 SWA remains the ideal companion for the most versatile photographic applications. Compact, light, and elegant in form, it embodies the essence of simplicity. Focused entirely on what matters. The upward shift offers ample range for precise perspective control, while an optional adapter allows the same movement downward, ideal for architecture or tall structures. By rotating the body or swapping lens and back, flexibility becomes effortless.
