The V Groove mount allows mounting the lens "rotating". This fact is very favorable for this type of optics as the optimal lens orientation can easily be achieved. Rodenstock determines this optimal position once the lens is finally assembled and adjusted. This optimal position is indicated with the removable dot you find on a brand-new lens. When mounted this red dot should point to the 12 o'clock position.
